Three Rivers Community Partnership & RiversMeet
A rewarding way to support to support your local community and its community owned facilities
The money raised through the Unity Lottery is distributed by the Three Rivers Community Partnership to assist good causes in Gillingham and surrounding parishes and to enhance the facilities in RiversMeet, the Leisure and Community Centre owned and run by the Community Partnership.
£40,000 has been raised since 2009. More than 30 local clubs and organisations have received a total of £10000 of this and £4000 is in hand to help others. £25000 has been set aside to improve the community facilities provided by RiversMeet.
Grants have enabled support to be given to the setting up of clubs and activities including the Town Meadow Group, Walkers are Welcome and the annual Walking Festival, the Gillingham Youth Club, the Job Club, the Easy Read Project, Dementia Friendly Gillingham, and the Gillingham Litter Pickers. Town gatherings such as the Jubilee Party on the Rec and the Great Get Together on the Meadow have been helped. Other beneficiaries include GANG (the Gillingham Action for Nature Group), the Swim School, the facilities at Hardings Park, the re-fitting of the North Dorset Disability shop (NorDDIS) and equipment for the Dorset Marshalls to use when ensuring safety in parades and festivals. Neighbouring village projects have been helped in East Stour and Buckhorn Weston. In 2018 funding was provided to 4 toddlers groups. In 2019 Coffee Companions took on loneliness. In 2020 the most recent group to be set up and receive a grant is Greener Gillingham who have been assigned £500 to deliver their ambitions for a repair café and recycling centre.
