Sight for Surrey is a charity offering a lifetime of support for people who are blind or partially sighted, Deaf, deafblind or hard of hearing. We are here for you and your family providing specialist, hands-on, practical support tailored to your needs. Our mission is to support you to overcome your day-to-day challenges, achieve your potential and lead an independent life.
Discovering you have an eye condition which may affect your sight can be emotionally devastating and may raise many questions. How can I get to the shops? How do I get to work? How can I continue communicating with my friends and family and the outside world? Sight for Surrey has a highly skilled assessment and rehabilitation team who can offer support and training to enable individuals to adapt to life with a visual impairment. We offer a holistic, person-centred approach which is focused on meeting the needs of adults, young people and their families. We have a wide range of other services we provide such as befriending, computer training, communication classes and benefits advice.
Our team of qualified social workers and Deaf Community Officers can work with you, your family or your carer. The Deaf Community is supported with monthly tea and coffee get-togethers with British Sign Language Interpreters available and exciting guest speakers. Our Deaf Youth Group provides a range of stimulating and exciting events for our younger service users, with the aim of enhancing their social skills and improving their confidence in unfamiliar settings. Past activities include ice skating, sky diving, Go-Kart racing and kayaking.
Our qualified and experienced team ensure that Children and Young People with vision impairment or multi-sensory impairment and their families receive a creative and innovative service that will help children to reach their full potential.
