The Lock 16 Lottery is a new community lottery for Camelon, Bantaskin and Tamfourhill. If you're local to the area, or from elsewhere and would like to see the area improve and the community helped to live a little better, this is a lovely way to invest in the community as well as win cash prizes for just £1 per week.
The money raised from lottery ticket sales will go into a community fund held by the Camelon, Bantaskin and Tamfourhill community council and local people will select who and what will benefit, via voting and other selection methods, to be tried out as we go forward.
Over the first two years, until the funds build up, the lottery cash will be donated to primary schools and the nursery for what they need, whether for individual children or projects like sports and play equipment. It will be up to the schools to choose.
Once there's enough of a fund to spread around, the community council will distribute the money to the chosen causes, projects, groups or initiatives.
Like other community councils, we could build a wind turbine or join an energy club to reduce people's bills, put on festivals and events like Mariners Day, sponsor sports events like the pre-Covid schools football festival at the Juniors, or contribute to more community facilities, of which this area has all too few. If enough people play, we can make large and small scale things happen for the better.
Tickets cost £1 per week and 50% of the total lottery proceeds go to Camelon, Bantaskin and Tamfourhill community council for the community causes and projects, 18.4% on prizes and 31.6% on expenses and administration of the lottery.
Prizes start at £5 and go up to a £25,000 jackpot. There is a 1:63 chance of winning any prize.
Players need to be over 18 years old. Weekly winners will be published on the community council's Facebook page.
