Our main function is to provide funding to aid the wellbeing of the street animals of North Cyprus, which includes neutering, vet treatment for a range of animal diseases such as, Leishmania, Ehrlichia, Distemper & Parvovirus, Cat Flu and Panlukapenia, we also provide funding for RTA surgery, plus the standard tick/flea/worming treatments, food/water and shelter. Where we can, we find homes or foster for the lucky few. Hope 4 Pets North Cyprus do not run a shelter, we prefer to spend all donations on the animals directly, not on the upkeep of a facility.
H4P are a very small charity run by 4 trustees, however, we make a huge difference to the quality of the lives of the street animals who struggle daily to survive. North Cyprus has a number of issues with animal welfare : -
- No government run organisation or department for animal welfare.
- No government run neutering programme.
- Puppies are abandoned regularly and left to die.
- Owners are reluctant to get their animals neutered.
- Very few laws relating to animal abuse/cruelty, which are rarely enforced.
- Migrant population of students & expats.
- Large hunting community who are lacking in animal welfare knowledge.
- Malnutrition & disease.
- Human cruelty - animals are beated, poisoned, shot or hung.
- RTA facilities or serious injury.
