Celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, Friends of Chichester Hospitals is the only charity solely dedicated to supporting Chichester hospitals, including St Richard’s and the Sussex Partnership Trust local mental health facilities at the Oaklands Centre, the Chichester Centre and Connolly House in Graylingwell Park. The Friends' also run a shop at St Richard's hospital selling a variety of items from books and snacks to balloons and gift items, as well as the much-loved trolley runs around the wards selling newspapers, magazines, toiletries and treats to patients and staff. Friends is entirely run by volunteers and awards 94% of its total income to supporting local Chichester services and patients. Over the last three years this has amounted to over £500,000.
By joining our lottery, you will directly contribute to helping St Richard’s Hospital and local mental health services continuously improve their care for pateints. In the past few years we have covered the purchase of vital equipment which could not be funded by the NHS: it has included state of the art imaging equipment for use in colorectal cancer surgery; a portable ultrasound machine to enable quicker diagnosis and treatment for children with arthritis, resulting in less damage to joints by avoiding delays; 30 wheelchairs for use by patients visiting out-patient appointments; a neonatal ventilator; foetal monitors for babies and their mothers whilst their mothers are in labour to ensure both are fit and well; as well as other equipment for the respiratory and paediatric departments. In addition, music equipment and speakers are just some examples of how we have supported Graylingwell mental health patients.
By joining our lottery, you will be helping us to continue to make a real difference, sometimes life-changing, to our local community.
