Alder Bridge Steiner School, which includes two kindergartens, is set in beautiful, semi-rural surroundings on the canal at Aldermaston Wharf. The only Steiner-Waldorf school in Berkshire, Oxfordshire, North Hampshire and Buckinghamshire, it follows the educational principles of Rudolf Steiner, teaching according to the child's stages of development, nurturing the whole child - physically, intellectually, spiritually and socially. The teachers work according to the rhythms of the day, the week, the year and the rhythms of nature, encouraging in the children a sense of security and anticipation from which confidence and contentment stem. Central to the children's education is experiential learning, with each child learning at an unhurried pace.
Our children leave Alder Bridge at the age of 13 ready for the wider world, with inner confidence, balance and maturity, and with a sense of social responsibility. Many go on to achieve exceptionally within mainstream education.
Alder Bridge is an inclusive school, which welcomes children from all social, cultural and financial backgrounds. The supportive school community is one of its greatest gifts, with each of us aware that we are involved in an outstanding vision of education and learning.
